Kyläniemi Optical Fiber Cooperative was founded on 20 April 2013. The purpose and business of the cooperative is to promote the telecommunications connections of its members.
Kyläniemi Optical Fiber Cooperative has built the Kyläniemi Optical Fiber Network during the autumn of 2013 and the summer of 2014. The optical fiber network has been designed and built using the regulations of the Finnish Communications Regulatory Authority as general construction guidelines.
The optical fiber network covers almost the entire mainland section of Kyläniemi, Taipalsaari. 50 km of optical cables have been installed and 35 km of cable trenches have been built. There are a total of 36 optical fiber connections in use and 5 reserved connections.
